From a Hobby to a Studio: The MHER Story
Aqsa Hanif3 min read
Before MHER Resin Studio, there was a small Instagram page called Mecasih Resin Art. Our founder Aqsa Hanif shares how a quiet hobby slowly became a studio.
Every studio has a beginning, and ours was small. There was no workshop, no shop sign, and no plan to build a brand. There was only a table, a few moulds, and a lot of curiosity.
This is the story of how Mecasih Resin Art became MHER Resin Studio, told in my own words.
A Table, a Mould, and Too Many Mistakes
I am Aqsa Hanif, and I started working with resin simply because I loved how it looked. The way light passed through it, the way colours moved and settled, the way a dried flower could be held inside it forever. I wanted to make something like that with my own hands.
My first pieces were not good. Some stayed sticky because I measured wrongly. Some were full of bubbles because I stirred too fast. One coaster cracked when I pulled it out of the mould too early. I still remember how disappointed I felt.
But each mistake taught me something. I learned to measure carefully, to stir slowly, to be patient with curing, and to respect the material instead of rushing it.
The First Orders
I began sharing my work on Instagram under the name Mecasih Resin Art. At first, it was just friends and family who noticed. Then a friend asked for a name keychain as a gift. Then her cousin asked for a set of coasters. Slowly, messages started arriving from people I had never met.
Every order felt like a small miracle. Someone was trusting me to make something personal for them, sometimes for a wedding, sometimes for Eid, sometimes just to say "I thought of you".
Learning What People Really Wanted
As more orders came in, I began to notice patterns. People didn't just want something pretty. They wanted something that carried meaning.
- A Quran Rehal with a mother's name for her home.
- A mehndi thaal that matched a bride's colours.
- A tasbeeh as a gift for a grandparent.
- Earrings and jhumka sets for a sister's big day.
- Name plates for a new home.
I realised that my work was not just about resin. It was about memories, prayers, love and celebration. That understanding changed the way I worked. I began spending more time listening before making anything.
The most beautiful piece is never the one with the most gold. It is the one that means something to the person holding it.
Why We Became MHER Resin Studio
As the work grew, the old name started to feel too small. Mecasih Resin Art had been a beginning, but what we were becoming was a proper studio, with a clear way of working and a clear promise to the people who order from us.
So we chose a new name: MHER Resin Studio. We also chose a simple tagline that holds everything we believe in: Art in Every Pour.
Our colours, navy, gold and cream, came from the pieces people loved most. Deep navy for calm and depth, gold for celebration and warmth, and cream for softness and light.
What Changed, and What Didn't
Some things changed with the new name. We organised our process, set clear timelines of 7–10 working days for custom pieces, and made ordering easier with Cash on Delivery across Pakistan.
But the heart of the work stayed the same:
- Every piece is still made by hand.
- Every order still begins with a conversation.
- Every item is still checked closely before it is packed.
- If something isn't right, we still remake it.
What a Day in the Studio Looks Like
Most days begin with checking pieces that have been curing overnight. Some are ready to demould, some need more time. Then comes sanding and polishing, which is slow, quiet work that I have come to enjoy.
Afternoons are often for pouring new pieces, placing gold flakes and flowers, and replying to messages. Evenings are for packing orders, writing small notes, and planning the next day.
It is not glamorous, but it is honest work, and I wouldn't trade it.
Thank You for Being Part of This
If you followed us back when we were Mecasih Resin Art, thank you. You were here when this was just a hobby, and your messages and orders are the reason it became a studio.
If you are new here, welcome. We are still small, still learning, and still pouring every piece with care. We hope one day we get to make something special for you.
With love from our studio table,
Aqsa
